OBITUARY: (Brockton) Richard A. Gundberg Sr., aged 70 years, of Middleboro, formerly of Brockton, died on Sat. January 28, 2012, at the Brockton V.A.Hospital, after of a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of Suzanne F (Murray) Gundberg of Middleboro; they had been married for 43 years. Born in Brockton, August 20,1941, he was the son of the late Albin and Helen (Mackiewicz) Gundberg. He was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1959, he had worked for Corsini Autoparts, Middleboro, as a driver, for more than 12 years. He was an active participant with the A.N.A.-Naval Museum in South Weymouth, as well as a past member of the American Legion. He was an avid artist, and attended the Butera School of Art in Boston. He had a great passion for model airplane building, in which he had built hundreds. He served in the United States Navy, from 1961-1964. He will be warmheartedly remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and close friend, and will be sadly missed by all who new and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne, his twins, Kris Gundberg of Falmouth and Kim (Gundberg) Brown of Dighton, a son, Richard A Gundberg Jr., daughter, Robyn and her husband Timothy Gavin, daughter, Kelli A Gundberg, all of Middleboro, two sisters, Elaine Nilsen of Easton and Carolyn Cicchetti of Brockton, 5 grandchildren, Jacqueline, Kristin, Nicholas, Courtney and Devon Gundberg, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was the father of the late Robert C Gundberg, and brother of the late Robert Gundberg. Visiting hours will be held on Wed. Feb. 1, from 6-8 pm in the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St Middleboro. Funeral services will be held on Thurs. Feb 2, at 10 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 11:30.
