OBITUARY: (MIDDLEBORO)

            Edward S. “Red” Lawrence Jr., aged 71 years, life-long resident of Middleboro, died at his home on Mon. June 25, 2007, unexpectedly. He was the husband of Madge R. (Chesteen) Lawrence ; they would have been married for 46 years in December. Born and raised in Middleboro, he was the son of the late Edward S. Sr. and his wife Gladys (MacNar) Lawrence. He was a member of Middleboro High School , class of 1954. He was a member of the Army National Guard, and later went on to serve 8 years as a United States Army Paratrooper. He had many employs, which included CP Washburn’s Grain Mill, W.H. Riley & Son Oil Co., The Town of Middleboro, and retired from Byrne Sand & Gravel Co. in Middleboro, where he drove a cement truck. He was a member of the Mitchell Memorial Club. He enjoyed fishing, sports, traveling, and spending time with his family and grandsons. He is survived by his wife, Madge, of 45 years, two daughters; Julie and her husband Brian Williams of Sudbury, MA, and Kimberly and her husband Robert Randall of Winder, GA, two sisters; Jeannette and her husband Michael Barigelli of Bradford, ME, and Katherine Lawrence of Middleboro. He was Papaw (grandfather) to Benjamin Fitzgerald of Charleston , SC , and Bupa (grandfather) to Jacob and Christopher Williams of Sudbury ; he was the son-in-law of Emma Chesteen, and brother-in-law of Dorothy and her husband Bill Morie, Gail and her husband Charles Gregg, and H.B. and his wife Shirley Chesteen, all of TN. Several nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Jenny-Lou Shurtleff and Herbert A. Lawrence. Funeral services to be held at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St. Middleboro, on Fri, June 29th, at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Thurs. 4-8 pm.
